Generally, these are known as the soil conditioners or amendments. Now, you would be wondering about what exactly it is. These are categorized as soil amendments used to improve poor quality soils.

Composition of Organic Gardening Products

A wide range of soil minerals is included in the amendments. Compost, bark, mulch, compost tea etc. are majorly used across the world. All of these products are composed out of waste materials obtained from plants and animals. There is no role of chemicals or other additive materials in whole procedure.

Structure of Soil

The main reason for using the organic soil amendments for gardening purpose is to improve soil structure as it start to compact with time. Soil compaction directly influences the root growth, which reduces the root’s ability to transport nutrients and water to other parts. The alterations, maintains the softness of earth and fine texture that aids the plant growth.

Nutrients

Over centuries, people have been working on lands with poor quality soil and striving to develop nature friendly methods to improve its quality. People have tried all ways including psychological, superstitious, religious, chemical and all.

But, they were unable to retain the soil quality without returning it what you have taken from it. Materials like clay, compost, peat are still used across the world to offer soil adequate amount of rare elements like magnesium, calcium and phosphorus.

Cation Exchange

Organic gardening products greatly influence the soil capacity for cation exchange. The soil acts as plant nutrients and storehouse of nutrients. Every soil has its own capacity to absorb minerals and nutrients; plants follow same process. Cations are one particular group of nutrients.

Most common ones includes magnesium, calcium, ammonium, potassium, hydrogen, and sodium. With time, cation exchange tends to decrease and need to be replenished timely. That is why experts suggest gardeners to use organic amendments.
As mentioned earlier, the organic materials increase the earth’s ability to absorb materials over time. In the same way, these organic compounds influence the water retention capacity of earth.

It is not possible to water the plants every day, soil itself has to hold some water to maintain moisture level and reduce the frequent water requirement. So, use the organic soil amendments to enrich your garden with seasonal charms.
